China’s Lanvin Group transforms: New leadership, brand strategies
Shanghai’s Lanvin Group has been undergoing a major transformation, marked by executive changes, new brand hires, and strategic shifts. Huang Zhen became chairman in December 2023, while Eric Chan, a seasoned executive, took over as CEO. The group has also named Peter Copping as Lanvin’s artistic director and Paul Andrew as Sergio Rossis creative director. Chan discusses the challenges of the Chinese luxury market, with middle-class buyers becoming more cautious post-2020. Despite these hurdles, the group is focused on brand reactivation, emphasizing heritage, craftsmanship, and customer engagement through social media. They are expanding into new markets like the Middle East and Southeast Asia, while also exploring AI technologies to enhance customer experiences and make their brand archives more accessible.
