South Korean tourism rebounds as Chinese visitors return in force

The Korea Tourism Organization yesterday reported that South Korea welcomed some 1.42 million international visitors in June this year, nearly returning to the level seen in the same period of 2019. Among these, mainland China ranked first with 397,000 visitors, making it the top source market. To better serve Chinese tourists, the Korea Tourism Organization has teamed up with WeChat Pay to launch the “Worry-Free Savings, Enjoy Korea” campaign, offering a range of benefits including upgraded exchange rate cards, exclusive discounts from quality merchants, Busan shopping gift packs, and vouchers worth up to 188 RMB ($26.28).
