Huawei, BAIC launch luxury Stelato S9 to rival Mercedes, BMW
Huawei and State-owned carmaker BAIC launched the Stelato S9 last week, aiming to enter the luxury executive sedan market currently dominated by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series. Priced between 399,800 RMB and 449,800 RMB ($55,770 to $62,750), the Stelato S9 boasts a 3,050-millimeter wheelbase, superior acceleration, braking, and aerodynamic efficiency compared to its high-end rivals. It saw 2,500 orders within the first 24 hours of its Beijing debut. BAIC, facing challenges in the NEV sector and needing a competitive domestic model, and Huawei, seeking to build on its success in the luxury SUV market with AITO, hope the Stelato S9 will establish Huawei as a key player in smart automotive solutions. The car features advanced Huawei technologies and joins the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, which aims to showcase Huawei's automotive expertise.
