Abandoned Yangshuo sugar mill reborn as boutique hotel

The Yangshuo Sugar House, once an abandoned sugar mill, has been transformed into a boutique hotel boasting a rich history and serene atmosphere. Located a short drive from Yangshuo in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the property exudes a secluded charm. Originally restored by Hong Kong investor Danny T.T. Chan and his partner Yang Xiaodong, the mill now operates independently under the name Sugar House. It serves as the flagship property for the Aurua hospitality brand, emphasizing nature, terroir, presence, and aura. The hotel preserves its industrial past with original slogans and converted spaces like the former cane press now serving as a library.
