In the second quarter of 2024, Chinese outbound travel continued its robust recovery, with over 1.5 million travelers departing during Golden Week alone, a significant rebound from previous years. Outbound travel during China’s May Day holiday reached 87% of 2019 levels, reflecting a strong resurgence. According to China Trading Desk’s Travel Sentiment Survey, 59% of outbound travelers were female, and 63 percent were aged 18-29. The survey highlighted a trend of spontaneous bookings alongside a growing preference for advanced planning.
