Thailand has approved plans to scrap its 60-day visa-free entry for tourists from 93 countries, including the UK, Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Spain, and the US. The policy, introduced in July 2024 to boost post-pandemic tourism, will be replaced by a country-by-country system requiring most nationals to apply for a visa for stays exceeding 30 days. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul cited security concerns following a series of high-profile arrests of foreigners linked to drugs and sex trafficking. Thailand has already received nearly 12 million visitors this year.
