Labor Day cross-border travel surges in Greater Bay Area
During the Labor Day holiday, short-haul cross-border travel between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau surged. From May 1 to 3, the Gongbei Border Inspection Station recorded more than 1.23 million crossings between Zhuhai and Macau, with heavy two-way flows driven by tourism, family visits, cross-border work, and business travel. Macau’s tourism market also remained strong, with the Macau Public Security Police Force reporting a record 247,700 inbound visitors on May 2 alone.
