SMCP Q1 revenue falls 0.8% on sharp decline in France

French fashion group SMCP — parent of Sandro, Maje, Claudie Pierlot, and Fursac — reported a 0.8% YoY revenue decline in Q1 to 287 million euros ($336 million), as a sharp drop in France offset growth elsewhere. France revenue fell 13% to 89 million euros ($104 million), penalized by flat consumer spending and the closure of 25 BHV shop-in-shops over unpaid sums. The Americas grew 11.7%, the Middle East and Europe (ex-France) rose 4.9%, and Asia-Pacific increased 2.6%. Maje led with 5% sales growth, while Sandro dipped 1.4% and Claudie Pierlot/Fursac fell 15.1%. SMCP operates around 1,600 stores in 59 countries.
