Audi deepens China EV push with new SAIC tech center

Audi has deepened its partnership with SAIC Motor to co-develop future vehicle generations under their jointly owned Audi brand in China, with four new models planned. A dedicated Audi Innovation and Technology Center will be established in Shanghai, led by Audi, focusing on intelligent electrification, AI-enabled smart cabins, and advanced driver assistance systems. The Audi E5 Sportback launched in 2025, with the Audi E7X SUV set to debut at Auto China 2026 and a third model scheduled for 2027. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said the centre will drive "Vorsprung in China," while SAIC president Jia Jianxu highlighted the partnership's strength in pursuing premium EV leadership.
