Middle East conflict disrupts China auto exports

Chinese automakers are facing severe export disruptions as Middle East conflicts impact critical transshipment routes through Dubai. A March 1 attack on Jebel Ali Port — the region’s largest hub for Chinese vehicle imports — temporarily halted operations and prompted shipping suspensions. The UAE received 567,000 Chinese vehicles in 2025, up over 70% YoY growth, highlighting Dubai’s role as a key distribution hub. European shipments now face 10-15 day delays rerouting around the Cape of Good Hope due to Red Sea risks. China exported a record 7.09 million vehicles in 2025, a 20% increase, though 2026 forecasts face pressure as conflicts threaten logistics infrastructure.
