Lane Crawford closes Chengdu IFS after 12 years

Lane Crawford closed its Chengdu IFS location on February 28 after nearly 12 years, marking its second mainland China exit following the closure of its Beijing Yintai Center store. The closure reflects broader rationalization in China’s luxury market, with multiple brands recently exiting underperforming Chengdu locations. Kiton and Dolce & Gabbana have also exited nearby, while Blancpain, TimeVallee, and Alexander McQueen departed last year. When the Chengdu store opened in April 2014, it introduced brands including Thom Browne and Acne Studios to Chinese consumers. The store cited non-renewal of its lease. Industry observers note the decline of the boutique buying model in China’s current retail environment.
