BYD aims to double German sales in 2026

Chinese automaker BYD has set a target to sell 50,000 vehicles in Germany this year, more than doubling its 2025 registrations of 23,306 cars. This goal comes after rapid growth where BYD’s registrations surged over 700%, capturing 0.8% of the German market — exceeding Tesla’s 0.7% share. Key to its strategy is a shift toward private buyers, moving away from fleet and rental sales. The company plans to expand its German sales network from 190 to 350 outlets by year-end and is offering significant discounts on models like the Tang SUV. Factory production in Hungary is set to begin soon to support its European expansion.
