Swire Properties is stepping up its mainland retail push despite the slowing market. The developer will launch its first Taikoo Place in Beijing in phases in late 2026, open a Taikoo Li in Sanya by the end of this year, and set up another Taikoo Li in Xi’an in 2027. Swire Properties has allocated HK$100 billion ($12.82 billion) for investment over 10 years from 2022, with HK$50 billion ($6.41 billion) earmarked for the mainland. After a major renovation, Taikoo Li Sanlitun North in Beijing has attracted new standalone stores from luxury brands including Dior, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany, recording a notable increase in foot traffic since multiple stores opened in December.
