According to a recent Airbnb report, outbound travel searches by Chinese travelers for the 2026 Spring Festival holiday have doubled compared to last year. Over 70% of planned stays fall outside the official nine-day break, indicating a trend towards longer, off-peak trips. New Zealand and Norway top the destination list, moving from niche choices to mainstream favorites. Queenstown is the most-searched city globally for travelers over 25. Norway’s popularity continues to rise, driven by aurora viewing and fjord scenery. Southern European coasts are gaining traction, with Italy’s Naples and Sardinia and Spain’s Costa Brava seeing search increases of up to 30 times. Generation Z leads the trend, with searches growing more than threefold.
