Great Wall Motor eyes Spain, Hungary for EU plant

Great Wall Motor (GWM) is advancing plans for its first full vehicle manufacturing plant in Europe, evaluating sites in Spain and Hungary. The facility targets annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles by 2029. International President Parker Shi confirmed labor and logistics costs are key factors in site selection. The plant will produce internal combustion engines, hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles. GWM plans to launch the Ora 5 compact SUV in mid-2026 as part of its European strategy, targeting 1 million annual overseas sales by 2030 following 453,141 overseas deliveries in 2024.
