Chanel has opened “La Galerie du 19M Tokyo,” an exhibition showcasing its métiers d’art workshops alongside Japanese artisans, running through October 20 at the Mori Arts Center Gallery and Tokyo City View. It is only the second time Le19M has traveled abroad, after Dakar in 2023. The show features curated works under the theme “Beyond Our Horizons,” a retrospective of embroiderer Lesage’s 100-year history, and an installation by architect Tsuyoshi Tane. Chanel president Bruno Pavlovsky said the event highlights the human touch behind luxury at a time of AI, rising prices, and a shortage of skilled craftspeople. Founded in 2021, Le19M houses 700 artisans in Paris.
