Chinese EV maker BYD expects overseas markets to account for about 20% of total sales this year, as improved logistics and new model launches accelerate global expansion. Brand and PR chief Li Yunfei said the company projects 2025 deliveries outside mainland China will reach 800,000 to 1 million units, out of 4.6 million globally. That marks a sharp rise from 2024, when overseas sales were less than 10% of BYD’s 4.26 million deliveries. In Q2 2025 alone, sales abroad jumped 145% YoY to 258,182 units, lifting their share to 22.5%. BYD’s shipping fleet of eight car carriers and new overseas plants, including a 150,000-unit Hungarian factory set to open in early 2026, are key to growth.
