Apple and foreign brands face 31% China sales drop

Sales of foreign-branded phones in China, including Apple’s iPhone, dropped 31.3% YoY in June, according to Reuters’ calculations based on data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. Shipments of foreign-branded phones fell to about 2 million units in June, down from 2.9 million a year ago. Total phone sales in China dropped 9.3% to 22.6 million units during the same period, highlighting the broader challenges facing international smartphone brands in the world’s largest mobile market.
