Apple loses top spot in China tablet market as Huawei gains share

Apple’s struggles in China have expanded beyond iPhone sales, with its wireless earphone and tablet shipments also declining in 2024. According to IDC, Apple’s earphone shipments fell 31.7%, dropping its market share from second to fourth place. Xiaomi took the top spot with a 46.4% increase, while Huawei’s earphone shipments rose 52.9%, both benefiting from affordable models. Similarly, in the tablet market, Apple's share fell 7 percentage points to 26.6%, losing its leading position to Huawei, which gained 5.7 points to reach 32.3%. Price differences are a key factor, with Apple’s products generally priced higher than competitors like Xiaomi and Huawei, which offer entry-level models at significantly lower prices.
