Guangzhou will open its first downtown duty-free store on August 26 at Friendship Mall International Finance Center in Tianhe District. The project is jointly developed by China Duty Free Group, Guangzhou Grandbuy, Lingnan Holdings, and Baiyun Airport. The outlet is among the first eight downtown duty-free stores approved nationwide under policy introduced in August 2024. It will combine duty-free and taxed goods, offer tax refund services for departing travelers, and carry international brands, Chinese heritage labels, and local products, focusing on cosmetics, jewelry, and premium liquor. The store aims to serve residents and outbound travelers while reinforcing Guangzhou’s ambition to become an international consumer hub.
