Japanese outdoor brand Snow Peak has closed all of its stores in Hangzhou, highlighting broader challenges in its China operations, according to Jiemian News. The brand’s fragmented presence across the country — operated by various entities including joint ventures, fashion groups, and local distributors — has made consistent brand building and strategic upgrades difficult. Snow Peak’s China operations are currently managed by Snow Peak Nature (Beijing), a joint venture formed in 2022 with partners including Citic Trust. Staff at the Hangzhou store confirmed it was distributor-run and that operations will now shift entirely online.
