Lululemon sues Costco over design infringement claims

Canadian athleticwear brand Lululemon has filed a lawsuit against U.S. retailer Costco in a California federal court, accusing it of infringing on its intellectual property. According to the filing, six Costco products, including hoodies, sweatshirts, and pants, closely resemble Lululemon’s signature designs, such as the Scuba hoodie and ABC joggers. Some of the items in question are sold under Costco’s in-house Kirkland brand, while others are produced by third-party manufacturers. Lululemon is seeking a court order to stop production and sale of the disputed items, removal of related advertising, and financial compensation for damages.
