China consumer prices dip again, exports to US plunge
China’s consumer inflation held steady at -0.1% in May, slightly better than the -0.2% forecast, as falling food and transport prices offset gains in housing, clothing, healthcare, and education. Producer Price Index (PPI) declined more sharply, falling 3.3% in May from April’s 2.7% drop, marking the steepest decline in nearly a year. China’s export growth slowed to 4.8% in May from 8.1% in April, with exports to the U.S. plunging 34.5%, the worst drop in over five years. Imports fell 3.4%, accelerating from a 0.2% decline in April.
