Marriott-Meituan partnership drives 88% booking surge

Within the first 24 hours of Marriott International and Meituan announcing the launch of a joint membership program on May 28, Marriott hotel bookings on Meituan Travel rose nearly 88% YoY, with orders from post-1995 users increasing over 148%. Around 70% of new Marriott Gold and Silver memberships were claimed by Meituan Black Diamond and Black Gold members, underscoring the platform’s growing influence in China’s travel and leisure market. According to data, Meituan Black Gold and higher-tier members spend over 10,000 RMB ($1,389) annually on average, with Black Diamond members surpassing 30,000 RMB ($4,167).
