China’s top sportswear retailer cuts 1,100 stores
Topsports, China’s largest sportswear retailer, reported revenue of 27 billion RMB ($3.73 billion) and net profit of 1.28 billion RMB ($177 million) for the fiscal year ending February 28, 2025. Amid a volatile market, the retailer reduced its store count from 6,144 to 5,020, prioritizing flagship and specialized brand stores. The company expanded immersive retail formats, such as Adidas Halo and Jordan World of Flight, and deepened its digital footprint with 2,300 mini-program stores, over 500 livestream accounts, and more than 100,000 WeChat communities. Online sales grew by double digits, now making up 30% to 40% of direct retail revenue.
