Accor Group has signed an agreement to open a Sofitel Legend hotel in Wuxi, making it the brand’s second location in China and 10th globally. Set along the city’s ancient Grand Canal in the Liangxi District, the project is a joint venture with local cultural tourism authorities and will include a second Grand Mercure hotel. The move reflects rising luxury travel demand in China’s lower-tier cities, with Wuxi welcoming over 62.7 million visitors in 2024.
