Lanvin has shut several stores in China — including locations in Nanjing, Hangzhou, Beijing, and Chengdu — amid concerns over unpaid rent and inventory shortages. The closures reduce its China store count to 11, with 32 locations worldwide. While market rumors suggest a full China exit by year-end, Lanvin denies this, citing retail optimization efforts. The closures come as parent company Lanvin Group reported a 23% YoY drop in 2024 revenue to 328 million euros ($354 million). Lanvin’s own sales fell 26% to 82.72 million euros ($89.3 million), with China down 40%. Despite the appointment of Peter Copping as creative director and his debut Fall/Winter 2025 show receiving positive critical feedback, the brand’s commercial outlook remains uncertain.
