Prada taps Wong Kar-wai for Shanghai dining concept

Prada’s first independent dining space in Asia is set to open in Shanghai’s historic Rong Zhai, a restored mansion and art space in the city center. Prada has invited renowned filmmaker Wong Kar-wai to provide creative direction for the dining space, which will be named “Mi Shang.” The interior design will evoke iconic scenes from Wong Kar-wai’s signature films, such as In the Mood for Love and Happy Together, incorporating the filmmaker’s signature aesthetic of mirrored contrasts to balance diverse cultural and visual references. Mi Shang will offer all-day café service and dining experiences. While the menu has yet to be revealed, it will include breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and evening cocktails, with a focus on refined Italian cuisine inspired by Chinese flavors. The café and restaurant are scheduled to open on March 31.
