China sees 233M trips during Spring Festival

During the 2025 Chinese Spring Festival holiday, from January 28 to February 4, an estimated 232.89 million trips were completed. Railway, road, waterway, and civil aviation transport carried 96.12 million, 220.52 million, 9.35 million, and 18.29 million passengers respectively. Ctrip’s report highlighted a rise in multi-leg journeys, with many combining holidays for extended trips. Popular domestic destinations included Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, while Harbin, Changchun, and Beijing were top picks for snow tourism. Many travelers also headed south to escape the cold, with cities like Xiamen and Shantou becoming hotspots. Internationally, outbound tourism surged, with Japan, Thailand, and the U.S. among the most popular destinations. Foreign visitors to China also increased, with a 30% rise in cross-border bookings.
