Walmart launches luxury resale market

Walmart is expanding into the luxury market by offering more than 27,000 pre-owned high-end items on its online marketplace, in partnership with resale platform Rebag. Starting January 16, the items will include luxury handbags, watches, jewelry, and accessories from brands like Chanel, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton. This move follows the success of Walmart’s “Wirkin” bag and aims to attract wealthier shoppers by offering luxury goods at accessible prices while tapping into the growing resale market. The collaboration also aligns with Walmart’s sustainability goals and could help the company compete with e-commerce giants like Amazon. Additionally, Walmart’s growing third-party marketplace, which has seen a 30% sales increase, strengthens its position in the competitive online retail space.
