China tops global autonomous driving acceptance

The “2024 Future Mobility Trends Report” by Continental Group reveals that Chinese consumers are more open to advanced automotive technologies than those in other countries. The report shows that 87% of Chinese respondents who don’t own EVs plan to buy one, and 90% see autonomous driving as useful. In contrast, acceptance of these technologies is lower in Germany, the US, and Japan. Additionally, 73% of Chinese consumers view cars as multifunctional spaces, unlike in Europe, where cars are still seen mainly as transportation. These findings highlight the growing gap between Chinese and global user expectations, emphasizing the need for automakers to adapt to China’s unique demand for smart EV features.
