Chinese tourism to Spain rebounds to pre-Covid levels

Spain has regained its status as a top European destination for Chinese tourists, with visitor numbers in the first three quarters of 2024 matching 2019 levels, according to Spain’s national tourism board. During China’s National Day holiday, cities Granada and Seville saw booking surges of 260% and 144%, respectively. Enhanced connectivity has played a key role, with summer 2024 flight capacity between China and Spain increasing by 38% compared to 2019, supported by direct routes from airlines like Air China, Hainan Airlines, and Cathay Pacific. Chinese tourists in Spain are also driving luxury spending, particularly on high-end fashion and jewelry.
