United Airlines has submitted an application to the US Department of Transportation to operate flights between Los Angeles and Beijing Capital Airport starting May 1, 2025, with three weekly flights using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Currently, United only operates a route between San Francisco and Beijing. Another airline offering direct flights from Los Angeles to Beijing is Air China. At present, each Chinese and US airline can operate up to 50 round-trip passenger flights per week between China and the US, with Chinese carriers fully utilizing their quota, while US carriers have not yet reached their limit.
