Foreign brands doubled presence on Xiaohongshu in 2023

Xiaohongshu today released data at the 7th China International Import Expo, revealing that “planting grass” (influencing consumer purchases) has become a key way for overseas brands to connect with the Chinese market. In the past two years, small and medium-sized overseas brands have increasingly used this method, with the number of brands on Xiaohongshu doubling in 2023 and tripling by October 2024 compared to 2022. Industry leaders emphasized China’s massive market potential, with “planting grass” helping brands reach targeted audiences and deepen their presence in niche markets.
