Egypt’s tourism sector is poised for a significant boost in 2024, with projections estimating over 300,000 Chinese tourists visiting the country. At the COTTM 2024 trade fair, Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathy emphasized the importance of enhancing tourism cooperation with China, highlighted by successful cultural exchanges like the “At the Top of the Pyramids” exhibition in Shanghai. The Egyptian Tourism Authority reported a 65% rise in Chinese visitors in 2024, aided by 30 direct flights weekly from major Chinese cities. Initiatives to attract Chinese tourists include a Chinese version of the official tourism website, installation of Chinese signage at attractions, and increased Chinese-speaking guides. Additionally, the Grand Egyptian Museum is set to open by the end of 2024, alongside a series of cultural events aimed at boosting Egypt's appeal as a travel destination.
