Africa emerges as hot destination for Chinese tourists
Africa is emerging as a popular destination for Chinese tourists, with increased interest in attractions such as Egypt’s pyramids, Kenya’s animal migrations, and Morocco’s blue-and-white town. From February to August, Trip.com reported a 1.2-fold rise in orders for African trips, while Fliggy saw nearly double the flight bookings this year compared to last, with Egypt and Kenya experiencing significant growth. Cities like Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou are leading sources of travelers to Africa. Notably, Tongcheng Travel reported a 200% increase in tourists to Egypt from January to August, and Utour Travel Group noted a 30% to 35% rise in bookings for African destinations, driven by interest in the peak season for animal migration.
