China’s senior travelers drive post-holiday tourism boom

The National Day holiday has ended, and middle-aged and older individuals are beginning to travel in off-peak periods. According to data from Trip.com, during the week following the holiday (October 8 to 14), which coincided with the Chongyang Festival, travel bookings by individuals aged 50 and above increased by nearly 20% compared to 2023. This silver-haired demographic, with both time and money to spare, is significantly influencing and transforming the tourism market in terms of products and services. From January to September this year, travel bookings for people aged 50 and above rose by 26% YoY, outpacing other age groups. Among them, the 61-65 age group saw the highest growth, with a YoY increase of 58%.
