For the first time, BMW has outsold Tesla in European EV sales, reporting 14,869 units sold in July, surpassing Tesla’s 14,561 units. Tesla’s sales decline is attributed to a downturn in the European EV market, where total sales fell by about 6% YoY, with Model Y and Model 3 sales dropping 16% and 17%, respectively. The decline is linked to reduced government incentives and concerns over EV resale values. Despite this, the Tesla Model Y remained the best-selling EV in Europe, followed by the Volvo EX30 and Volkswagen ID4. Meanwhile, European car sales overall grew by 2%, with hybrids and combustion vehicles gaining popularity. In Australia, EV sales rose nearly 9% YoY, but Tesla’s July sales fell by 44%, with hybrids and plug-in hybrids now comprising over 20% of the market.
