Shein hires former EU official to navigate European regulations

According to Bloomberg, Chinese cross-border e-commerce giant Shein has hired former senior EU official Günther Oettinger to help the company navigate regulatory challenges in Europe, strengthen its lobbying efforts in the region, and take a more proactive stance on potential regulatory scrutiny ahead of its planned IPO on the London Stock Exchange. Oettinger has held several senior positions within the EU, having served as the Governor of Baden-Württemberg from 2005 to 2010. In 2010, he moved to Brussels, where he successively held roles as the Commissioner for Energy, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, and Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources. In 2014, he briefly served as Vice President of the European Commission.
