Shopee vs. TikTok Shop: Vietnam’s e-commerce battle intensifies

According to an August 16 report by YouNet ECI, in the second quarter of this year, Vietnamese consumers spent a total of VND 87.37 trillion (approximately $3.6 billion) across the four major platforms: Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada, and Tiki. This represents a 10.4% increase from the previous quarter. Notably, the revenue gap between Vietnam's major e-commerce platforms is widening, with Shopee maintaining its lead with a significant revenue of VND 62.38 trillion ($2.6 billion), capturing 71.4% of the GMV market share. TikTok Shop ranks second with VND 19.24 trillion ($812 million), accounting for 22% of the market share. Overall, Shopee and TikTok Shop together hold 93.4% of the GMV market share, up from 91.25% in the first quarter.
