EU member states divided on China EV tariffs

EU member states conducted an advisory vote on additional tariffs for China-built electric vehicles (EVs), revealing a division in opinion and highlighting challenges in imposing such tariffs. Italy and Spain support the tariffs, while Sweden and Germany plan to abstain, with Poland and Greece undecided. The European Commission will keep the vote confidential and non-binding. The EU has already imposed provisional duties up to 37.6%, criticized by some EU members like Germany and Hungary, who oppose the tariffs due to their automotive ties with China.
