Zara parent backs lab-grown cotton tech

Inditex Group, the parent company of Zara, announced the acquisition of shares in the US sustainable agriculture startup Galy as part of its sustainable economic investments, without disclosing specific transaction details. Established in 2019, Galy is developing an innovative process using plant cells to produce cotton in laboratory settings. Inditex Group CEO Oscar Garcia Maceiras stated that this investment will drive innovation in sustainable development, aiding the group’s commitment to halving its entire supply chain emissions by 2030.
