(Yoox) With anticipation building for the 2014 FIFA World Cup taking place this June, multibrand luxury e-tailer Yoox has enlisted Chinese designer Masha Ma and nine other top global fashion labels to create a capsule collection of stylish sweatshirts representing their home countries’ teams. Participating in the global “fashion sweatshirt” trend, Ma joins brands including Opening Ceremony from the United States, Juun J from South Korea, and MSGM from Italy in designing a unisex piece for the collection. The sweatshirts are prominently promoted on the site’s Chinese online store, which explains that her design features a red, white, and black three-dimensional pattern with ripples, the shape of a pagoda, soccer shoes, and the letter “M” fused together in a collage. With presentations at top global fashion weeks and collaborations with famous artists such as graphic designer Neville Brody, Ma has shot to global fashion fame in recent years. Her recent collection presented at Paris Fashion Week in March was inspired by an "epiphyllum burst into bloom," with "heavy layering with kimonolike folds on intricate pieces that at times featured countless items worn one on top of the other," according to Women's Wear Daily.
