Luxury Hotel To Be Co-Managed With Shanghai Zendai Group#

The Ritz-Carlton isn't the only major hotelier looking to get a piece of Shanghai's high-end hotel market. This week, Dubai's Jumeirah Group signed an agreement with the Shanghai Zendai Group to build the first location of Jumeirah's new marque, VENU, in Shanghai. Jumeirah initially announced the creation of its new contemporary luxury sub-brand at the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference in April. Set to open next year, the VENU Himalayas Hotel Shanghai will be located in the city's booming Pudong district.

The VENU Himalayas Hotel -- which will be designed by architect Arata Isozaki and interior designer KCA International -- will stand in the middle of a new arts and lifestyle hub, the Himalayas Centre. The structure and interior of the building will reflect the experience of the Himalayas, and will include an impressive 400 rooms and 70 luxury suites.

According to the Jumeirah Group, the VENU Himalayas Hotel will include an art museum, theatre, and ample retail space, and will be located near the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Set to be situated in an overwhelmingly residential area, the VENU Shanghai will offer guests easy access to the Shanghai Metro system and Pudong Airport Maglev train.

The agreement signed between Jumeirah and the Shanghai Zendai Group this week to co-manage the VENU Himalayas Hotel

is the sixth management agreement signed by
