Boutique Hotel In Admiralty Gets Personal...For A Price#

The Wet Market Culinary Journey is on offer through December

Latching on to the trend of offering more personalized services for guests, which has become de rigueur in the former British colony, the five-star Hong Kong boutique hotel The Upper House announced this week a new "Wet Market Culinary Journey" that gives guests an up close and personal introduction to the city's thriving culinary scene. Guiding individual visitors through Hong Kong's notoriously packed and chaotic but vibrant and historic wet markets, the "culinary journey" works as a short course about the sights, sounds, and most importantly, tastes of the city.

However, it's not your average guided tour of Hong Kong; Guests are escorted through the city's wet markets by a chef from the Michelin-starred restaurant Café Gray Deluxe, who sources local ingredients for the night's summer menu along the way, then are brought back to the hotel for a wine-pairing dinner and a stay in the hotel's plush 1,230 sq. ft. Upper Suite.

This kind of service doesn't come cheap, though. The two-night package, which includes perks like round-trip limo service to and from the airport and complimentary champagne at check-in, goes for HK$19,888 (US$2,552).
