Hong Kong retail sales rise for 12th straight month

Hong Kong’s retail sales grew 8.6% YoY in April to HK$31.4 billion ($4.01 billion), the 12th consecutive month of increases, though slowing from March’s 12.8% growth, government data showed. For the first four months of 2026, total retail sales value rose 11.3% YoY. Visitor arrivals surged 9.6% YoY to 4.22 million in April, with mainland Chinese visitors up 10.3% to 3.10 million. Jewelry, watches, and valuable gifts sales jumped 19.8% YoY, while clothing and footwear rose 4.8%.
