JD.com launches China’s first online tax refund store

JD.com has launched China’s first online departure tax refund store on its mobile app, allowing international visitors to shop for eligible goods across the Chinese mainland and process VAT refunds at hotels or airports before departure. Shoppers enter identification and entry/exit details at checkout; the system auto-generates an electronic refund application. The store currently offers nearly 300 product categories spanning mobile phones, electronics, and home appliances. Overseas visitors are eligible for refunds of up to 9% on qualifying purchases of 200 RMB or more.
