China has signaled its intention to extend its trade truce with the US, with trade teams set to discuss renewing the one-year Kuala Lumpur agreement before it expires in November. Beijing said it would accept US tariffs not exceeding the roughly 30% effective rate established after that negotiation — later reduced to an estimated 21% following a US Supreme Court ruling. The Trump administration has sought new Section 301 investigations to restore tariffs to pre-ruling levels. The announcement follows President Trump’s state visit to Beijing last week, which yielded China’s purchase of 200 Boeing aircraft and new bilateral trade and investment councils.
