Asia posted the steepest decline, falling 20% to 29 million euros ($34 million) on consumer caution. Western Europe (excluding France) fell 19% to 37 million euros ($43.4 million), while South America rose 23% to 27 million euros ($31.7 million). France gained 5% to 14 million euros ($16.4 million), boosted by Lacoste fragrances. Chairman and CEO Philippe Benacin described the results as acceptable given the environment and expressed optimism for the coming half-years.
