Gucci and Google to launch AI smart glasses in 2027

Kering-owned Gucci and Google are developing AI-powered smart glasses targeting a 2027 release, confirmed by Kering CEO Luca de Meo. If realized, Gucci would become the first major luxury house to enter the AI eyewear market, competing directly with Meta and Ray-Ban, which sold over 7 million units in 2025. The glasses will integrate Google’s Android XR and Gemini AI technology. For Kering, which has faced three consecutive years of Gucci sales declines, the venture is a strategic effort to diversify revenue beyond traditional fashion cycles.
